-Cooking safety starts with YOU!

-Family friendly activities:  Fire engine and ambulance tours, Junior Firefighter Challenge, Jaws of Life - see our volunteers cut up a car, learn about cooking safety, suit up like a firefighter/EMS, hands only CPR, blood pressure screenings, and  squirt the fire hose!

Howard County Seeks Entries for Coloring Book Contest Promoting “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”

Howard County’s Department of Public Works’ Bureau of Environmental Services invites Howard County students, grades third through fifth, to participate in its annual Coloring Book Contest promoting the importance of the three R’s: “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.” Drawings should be done on white, unlined 8.5” by 11” paper in black marker or ink – no color, and should show how each artist practices at least one of the three R’s.

Savage VFC Open House

You’re invited to join us on October 7, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM for the department’s open house. This free event is open to the community. We’ll have a variety of family-friendly activities designed to introduce attendees to the fire service as well as our station and apparatus.

Pack Join Scouting Night

Howard County Scouts BSA is excited to welcome you and your family to Scouting! We have over 30 packs in Howard County with scouts from almost every school. Throughout September and October, our Packs are hosting Join Scouting Nights. Fall Volunteer Naturalist (Field Trip Hike Leader) Training

Volunteer Naturalists guide nature hikes and stream surveys for grades K-12 students during the fall field trip season, Sept. - Nov. Field trips usually take place on weekdays during school hours. Our fall training sessions are as follows: 

Elementary (Grades K-5)
Friday, September 1, 9-12: Grades K-2
Friday, September 8, 9-12: Grades 3-5

Secondary (Grades 6-12)
Thurs., August 31, 9-12: Watershed
Thurs., September 7, 9-12: Watershed
