Family Development Samaritan Foundation : Back 2 School Drive

Family Development Samaritan Foundation is hosting our annual Back 2 School Drive and Family Fun Day! Noon, Saturday, September 3, 2022 .This year we are excited to have community organizations for students and families to connect with and learn more about opportunities available to you. Doors will open at noon and the drive will run until all supplies are given out.  

The first 50 people will receive a free backpack (limit 2 per family) 

 

Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run

Join us in-person or virtually for the Howard County Autism Society’s Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run! The event brings together those touched by Autism and members of the community in a supportive, energizing and fun environment. Along with the race itself, enjoy the 5K’s village featuring sponsors, family-friendly activities and entertainment, grab-and-go snacks, and more.

Wizardry ON ICE!

Come join our "Wizardy ON ICE!" where you will be entertained by Harry Potter characters during a fun time for your entire family. Our skaters will help you enter the world of magic with their artistry and incredible jumps and spins. SATURDAY shows @5:30 and 7:15pm, SUNDAY shows at 4:30pm and 6:15pm.

Howard County Food Bank

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) provides access to nutritious food through the operation of its Howard County Food Bank and the support  food pantries throughout Howard County, as well as by assisting clients with their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications. In addition, CAC operates a Community Garden, which provides locally grown, organic produce to clients of the Howard County Food Bank.

 

Housing, Energy and Weatherization Assistance

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) offers financial support to families that are struggling with electric and fuel costs through our energy assistance program. CAC’s weatherization assistance program permanently reduces energy bills by making the home more energy efficient. CAC’s housing assistance program provides one-time financial support to prevent eviction or assist with rent.

Early Childhood Education (Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten)

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) operates an early childhood education program that encompasses both Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. CAC’s education program is full-day and full-year (51 weeks) and is designed to prepare students socially, emotionally and academically for kindergarten. It also has a focus on family engagement and forming partnerships between parents and staff that promote family stability, reduce stressors and connect families to critical family resources.
