Girls on Fire Leadership Development Academy (LDA)

The  Leadership Development Academy (LDA)LDA serves girls 13-17 years of age. Girls engage in various learning experience to encourage academic success, develop leadership potential and  prepare girls for viable career choices/ college.  This program is led by professional mentors and speakers from variety of professions and fields of study. Students get a chance to hear their journey and gain knowledge about  preparing for leadership and academic success. Seventy-five percent of  our graduating seniors attend colleges/ universities and sixty percent have received scholarships.  Also, Internships are offered for those who meet eligibility requirements.

Mentoring and leadership development activities include topic driven discussions and workshops as; public speaking, effective communication, job and college prep, critical thinking, goal setting, volunteerism and civic responsibility ( among others). Students also participate in team building and healthy socialization activities, field trips, and engage in volunteerism opportunities.  LDA meets the 3rd Saturday each month and workshops are scheduled alternate Saturdays. There is enrollment fee of $85. Because the enrollment fee is quite low, we ask parents to donate from time to time.
