Summer Slam Basketball Tournament

The Pearl Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Kappa Community Development Foundation, Inc. & the Office of Calvin Ball, Howard County Executive are sponsoring a Basketball Tournament for youth ages 11 to 16 years old.  The event takes place on Saturday, August 13, 8:30 AM-6:30 PM and Sunday, August 14, 9:30 AM-2:30 pm. 

Activities in addition to basketball include: DJ, Food Trucks, Line Dancing, Prizes, and Vendors.

Donations to benefit Howard Community College Food Pantry.

The Wilde Lake Community Association is partnering with the Howard County Public Library and Syke’d Music to provide free drop-in classes for preschoolers and their guardians this summer.  

Climate Change Solutionists for 6th grade HCPSS students

The Howard County Conservancy is pleased to invite all rising 6th grade students to apply to participate in the Climate Change Solutionist program for the 2022-2023 school year.  This program is open to any 2022-2023 6th grader attending a Howard County Public school. Solutionists will participate in four Sunday meetings with mentors from the Howard County Conservancy. The meetings will include learning about climate change and how to take action in your own community.

JA Entrepreneurship Summer Experience

The JA Entrepreneurship Summer Experience will teach students the mindset and the skills needed for success from aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators from the Maryland region through enrichment activities and engaging mentor moments. Students will also learn the importance of BMF cluster program completion and become equipped with tools to help guide them through their high school years. 

PEC365 School Supply Drive

PEC365 We Care provides school  supplies for students in need 365 days a year. Please submit a written request on school letter head, signed by school administer to wecare365@posheventscenter.com .

If you would like donate supplies, or refer a family in need, please email wecare365@posheventscenter.com to schedule drop off/ referral information.

We coordinate with families  to come out and pick up what they need for the new school year.

Early Childhood Education (Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten)

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) operates an early childhood education program that encompasses both Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. CAC’s education program is full-day and full-year (51 weeks) and is designed to prepare students socially, emotionally and academically for kindergarten. It also has a focus on family engagement and forming partnerships between parents and staff that promote family stability, reduce stressors and connect families to critical family resources.

Millionaire's Club

The Millionaire's Club is a complete financial skills program designed for delivery in a club-like setting at high schools and middle schools.

The Millionaire's Club was developed by professionals from non-profit banking, education, and financial literacy disciplines. The focus is on delivering a meaningful learning experience to Club members that will provide lifelong personal finance skills so participants avoid financial missteps, and prosper in our ever-challenging financial world.
