Teen Time After-School Program

A free after-school program for neighborhood students ages 10-14 (grades 5-8) at HCLS East Columbia Branch, Teen Time runs Monday through Thursday from 3:15-5:30 pm during the school year.

The daily schedule includes a transition period, homework support, snack break, and enrichment activities. While centering on academic enrichment, Teen Time focuses on a variety of additional components, which involve guest speakers, life skills training, art contests, and field trips to local attractions.

Sources of Strength

Sources of Strength is a peer leadership and suicide prevention program open to 9th-12th graders in Howard County. Peer leaders work with adult advisors to design creative mental health awareness campaigns, while developing leadership skills and knowledge around mental health. Sources of Strength gives students an opportunity to create positive social change by using their voice and social influence to prevent suicide. The program is free and will meet in-person and virtually. Meetings will be held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 6:30 pm.

BridgeWhiz, a FREE online course designed to teach children in grades 4 through 12 the mind-building challenge, great fun, and competitive excitement of contract bridge, a fascinating game whose benefits, intellectual stimulation, and adventure will last a lifetime.

SuperSquads Cheerleading AFTER SCHOOL!

SuperSquads provides an exciting after school program in cheerleading!  Our primary goal is to develop a solid, healthy self-esteem within each student through our challenging yet fun curriculum. We welcome those with experience and those new to our sport. 

We offer teams in 16 Howard County elementary schools!

Team training is once per week and includes cheers, sidelines, dances and college fight songs as well as team bonding, jump skills and technique, tumbling and stunting (including body positioning and drills), motion technique, strength training and flexibility!
