Annual Continuing the Legacy Legal Mentoring and Trial Simulation Event


The Waring-Mitchell Law Society is partnering with Wilde Lake High School to bring a free forum to learn about a career in the law. Students will meet individually and in groups with judges and attorneys engaged in the practice of law through a “speed mentoring" activity and case simulations.

This is a great event for high school students, especially those interested in the law. They will have an invaluable experience learning about the law and networking with professionals. 

Light Dinner provided. Masks are required.

Ravens Caw to Action

The Baltimore Ravens and United Way of Central Maryland are hosting community-wide volunteer events during the month of October as part of the 2021 Ravens’ Caw to Action.  

The Ravens would love students at local schools to be a part of these activities by writing letters and drawing pictures for veterans, doctors/nurses, hospital patients, or people who are experiencing homelessness. Students can also write thank you notes to their own teachers!

Free Online Parenting Classes

Join HC DrugFree & the Howard Co State's Attorney's Office for an evidence-based, interactive prevention program to provide families with skills/knowledge to reduce the risk that their children will use drugs/alcohol or engage in other dangerous behaviors.

The series of 4 Zoom classes is for parents/guardians of 9-14 year olds. (For slightly younger/older child, register & HC DrugFree will contact you to confirm.) Parent/guardian or child must live in Howard County.

Medication & Sharps Collection (Outdoor - Fun Volunteer Opportunity)

Community Service hours available at FUN outdoor community event.

The next prescription & over-the-counter Medication and Sharps (needles, syringes & EpiPens) collection will be held in the Wilde Lake Village Center parking lot in Columbia (next to the Swim Center & The UPS Store) on Sat., Oct. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Free! Convenient. Open to the public. Safe distancing. Follow CDC guidelines. Medication is guarded & transported by the Howard County Police & DEA. Youth not allowed near meds/sharps.

JA Rising Women, Fall 2021 CoHort

JA Rising Women introduces students to the key elements involved in organizing and operating a business, while empowering them to solve problems and address local needs through the entrepreneurial spirit. The program focuses on building 21st century skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, decision making, and much more. It is a unique after-school opportunity for high school girls interested in exploring their entrepreneurial potential.

Fall Fest

Join us on Saturday, October 30th from 2-6 PM outdoors on Bethany Community Church property for some FREE family fun, carnival games, hayrides, raffles and prizes! Mental Health Film Festival - Each and Every Day

The Horizon Foundation and CAPA are jointly hosting the screening of "Each and Every Day" on Monday, 10/18 at 6pm. This documentary explores youth mental health through the eyes of nine participants who have attempted suicide or have struggled with suicidal thoughts. They share not only challenges, but also their recoveries and hard-won wisdom about what made their life worth living. It is followed by a panel discussion with Emily Her, a recent graduate and author who will share her lived experience; Dawn Duignan, LCSW-C and local mental health provider; and Dr.

Candlelight Concert Society presents ECCO Orchestra@St. Louis Church Oct. 30

The Candlelight Concert Society presents the East Coast Chamber Orchestra 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct.30, in St. Louis Church.

Joining forces with the 17-member ECCO ensemble, eminent Israeli-born pianist Shai Wosner melds the baroque and contemporary, interspersing beloved Bach concertos with compelling new ones.
