Downtown Columbia Maker Faire

Join us for the Downtown Columbia Maker Faire, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth! Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning, creating, and love sharing what they can do. From engineers to artists to scientists to crafters, Maker Faire is a venue to show off hobbies, experiments, projects, and careers.

The day includes family-friendly workshops, demonstrations, and presentations on painting, sculpting, robotics, digital art, and so much more! 

Tau Pi Talent Hunt

This is a Non-profit community initiative for kids from elementary to high school grade can display their talents in Art, Music, and Dance and when awards. The winner or winners will be given the chance to compete in our regional Talent Hunt event all expenses paid.

Hunger Free Weekend Program

Hunger has both short- and long-term negative effects on children’s health and ability to succeed in school. Blessings (https://www.blessingsinabackpack.org/) in partnership with LindaBen Foundation will provide food on the weekends to children at times when other resources are not available such as weekends. Blessings & LindaBen relies on the schools we partner with to identify students who qualify for the school's free and reduced-price meal program.

Junior Clinics & Match Plays

Clinics are an excellent opportunity for junior players to learn new skills and techniques while improving their overall squash game by playing with a group of their peers at similar skill levels. The teamwork, camaraderie, and healthy, safe, supportive, competitive environment is the perfect setting for growing a student-athlete who understands sportsmanship and hard work. 

Howard County Food Bank

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) provides access to nutritious food through the operation of its Howard County Food Bank and the support  food pantries throughout Howard County, as well as by assisting clients with their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications. In addition, CAC operates a Community Garden, which provides locally grown, organic produce to clients of the Howard County Food Bank.

 

Early Childhood Education (Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten)

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) operates an early childhood education program that encompasses both Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten classrooms. CAC’s education program is full-day and full-year (51 weeks) and is designed to prepare students socially, emotionally and academically for kindergarten. It also has a focus on family engagement and forming partnerships between parents and staff that promote family stability, reduce stressors and connect families to critical family resources.
