Biz Kidz Academy is sponsoring a competition and award ceremony for Howard County students.  Kids and teens (Ages 8-18) are invited to creatively express themselves with an inspiring business product, 500-word composition, or 5–10-minute video on a familiar topic that inspires them. Competitors will attend a special award ceremony on Sat., Oct. 21, 2023, at the Holiday Inn, located at 7900 Washington Blvd in Jessup MD. Competitors will display their creative entries and sell their business products at a vendor table.

A basketball league for children grades 1-12. Practices one night a week with games on Friday evenings or Saturdays.  Practices begin in November, games begin in January for the eight-week season. Additional information at www.elev8sports.org one night a week with one gamer per weekend.

The Triadelphia Ridge Elementary School PTA is excited to host the Retriever Run Fundraiser for all students, families, and community members on Saturday, November 18th at 9am. This will be a fun school-wide event meant to bring the community together, show school spirit, and promote fitness. Participants may run or walk the course! On October 15, from 11 am - 4 pm, Howard County Pride returns with its annual PRIDE Celebration at Merriweather Park at Symphony Woods. This free, family-friendly event kicks off with a Kids' Music Box performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra!
Vendors, Exhibitors, and Food Trucks will line the pathways and the Chrysalis stage will feature a variety of amazing performances!

-Family friendly activities:  Fire engine and ambulance tours, Junior Firefighter Challenge, Jaws of Life - see our volunteers cut up a car, learn about cooking safety, suit up like a firefighter/EMS, hands only CPR, blood pressure screenings, and  squirt the fire hose!

The Be SMART campaign focuses on education and awareness about child gun deaths and secure gun storage. Be SMART volunteers encourage parents and caretakers to “Be SMART” and take these five simple steps to help prevent shootings by children:

S- Secure (Secure guns in homes and vehicles) 

M- Model (Model appropriate behavior around firearms) 

A- Ask (Ask others if they have unsecured guns in the homes where your child spends time) 

R- Recognize (Recognize the role of guns in suicides)

On October 12th, Kick off the 9th Annual Festival with a variety of fun presentation and STEM activities focusing on this year’s theme STEM-ertainment.   There will be plenty of activies involving eSports and Video Games includng Firaxis and the Baltimore  Chaper of Independent Game Developers Association.  This is a free event for all ages.  The event is in the Science and Technology Building at Howard Community College.
