Free Life Skills Classes (and recruiting high school volunteer )

Life Skills classes for HoCo students in grades 6-9. We will consider requests for slightly younger or older.

Eight online sessions will be offered Tuesdays, February 7, 14, 21, 28 & March 7, 14, 21, 28 from 5 to 6:30 pm on Zoom. Designed to promote positive health and personal development. If you have questions about the appropriateness for your students, email Lifeskills@hcdrugfree.org. We encourage siblings and friends to take these classes together.


Interested in computer science, free food, and coding with friends to win prizes? If so, come to QuHacks, a local hackathon (coding competition) for high schoolers and middle schoolers! The event will be on Saturday, January 14th, 2023, at Howard Community College from 9AM to 6PM. All experience levels are welcome, and attendees are free to come with a team of friends or make new friends at the event!

Howard County Conservancy Summer Nature Day Camps

The Howard County Conservancy is a nonprofit environmental education center located on 232 acres of rolling hills in Woodstock. The Conservancy has been educating youth since 1997, and has been an Educational Partner with the Howard County Public School System since 2003. We reach more than 25,000 children each year through nature field trips, School’s Out programs, nature preschool and more.

2023 Youth Showcase - Call for Auditions

The Howard County Maryland Chapter of The Society, Incorporated, Supporting the Arts is asking youth ages 11-21 to submit taped auditions to Info@THESOCIETYINCHOCO.ORG by Sunday, January 15, 2023. 

Students will be selected to participate in a Youth Showcase being held on January 29, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center. We are looking for musicians, dancers, actors, poets, and visual artist. 

Monetary prizes will be awarded to winners. 

Peer-to-Peer (Mentoring&Tutoring Program)


The P2P Program is a peer mentoring and academic tutoring program. Highly qualified senior students(Helpers) serve as mentors to younger students (Buddies). A Helper student provides academic resource to their buddy partner. The P2P program marks its 16th anniversary this year, providing many benefits for social development and academic success. Helpers who fulfill the required service hours are eligible for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award PVSA).

Who? Buddy: 1st - 9th/ Helper: 9th - 12th (GPA above 3.7)

Center for Creative and Learning, Inc

The Center for Creative Life and Learning, Inc is a 501(c) 3 tax non-profit organization providing the following community services to youth and families.

1. Mentoring, Leadership and Enrichment Programs for three distinct age groups; 8-12. 11-13, and 14-17. Also offers a Leadership Development Academy and Youth Advocates Program for students 13-17. Meets Saturdays

2.Reading Proficiency program, "You Can Read" for English and Spanish speaking students 8-12 years of age.
