ADHD, ASD, TS & Reading Disabilities Research Studies-Kennedy Krieger Institute

We are recruiting participants between 8 to 17 years old to participate in a research study to learn if there are differences between the brain’s structure and its function in children and adolescents with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Reading Disabilities.  

This is a great opportunity for children and adolescents to learn about research and play an active role in scientific exploration!

Options for All - Research Study-JHU

Options for All, is a research study focused on the educational experiences of expecting and parenting teens in Maryland. The results will be used to inform practice and how we better support young parents across the state. We are recruiting young people ages 15 to 19 years old.  Participants will be asked to complete a brief (15 min) online survey and then an individual interview. Youth can decide to participate in one or both parts of the study. They will be compensated up to $50 for their time.

Life Skills Classes for Students-HC DrugFree

HC DrugFree is providing another series of skills-based classes designed to promote positive health and personal development for students in grades 6 to 9. For slightly younger or older students, requests will be considered as space is available, so please register student and wait for a response. Siblings and friends are encouraged to attend together. Taught by professional staff and older students. Younger students listen to and learn from trusted older students. Eight Zoom classes will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 10 - June 2.

Howard County Food Bank

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) provides access to nutritious food through the operation of its Howard County Food Bank and the support  food pantries throughout Howard County, as well as by assisting clients with their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) applications. In addition, CAC operates a Community Garden, which provides locally grown, organic produce to clients of the Howard County Food Bank.


Housing, Energy and Weatherization Assistance

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) offers financial support to families that are struggling with electric and fuel costs through our energy assistance program. CAC’s weatherization assistance program permanently reduces energy bills by making the home more energy efficient. CAC’s housing assistance program provides one-time financial support to prevent eviction or assist with rent.

Millionaire's Club

The Millionaire's Club is a complete financial skills program designed for delivery in a club-like setting at high schools and middle schools.

The Millionaire's Club was developed by professionals from non-profit banking, education, and financial literacy disciplines. The focus is on delivering a meaningful learning experience to Club members that will provide lifelong personal finance skills so participants avoid financial missteps, and prosper in our ever-challenging financial world.

AST Tutoring

AST is offering FREE virtual, ongoing one-on-one homework help for all middle school students in a similar model to the high school honor society tutoring programs. Students may receive free assistance with homework assignments in the 4 core subjects: Math, English, Science, or Social Studies. These help sessions occur at designated times during the week. For students that need a unique perspective, experienced help, or enrichment, Homework Help is an amazing and accessible tool to supplement day to day in-school learning.
