Teen Advisory Council Meeting - HC DrugFree (8th to 12th grade)

HC DrugFree's Teen Advisory Council is open to all Howard County students in grades 8 through 12. This is a great opportunity to help prepare younger students for success in high school while allowing older students to develop their leadership and mentoring skills. Medication, Sharps & More Disposal Event

Safe and convenient drive-thru medication & sharps disposal event will be held on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Wilde Lake Village Center Parking lot near the Swim Center. HC DrugFree is accepting prescription and over-the-counter medications, sharps (needles, syringes, EpiPens, etc.), vapes, inhalers, veterinary medication and more. Medication will be guarded/transported by HCPD and the DEA. Teen, adult, and medically trained adult volunteers wanted! Groups are encouraged to volunteer.

Columbia Festival of the Arts LakeFest 2023

Columbia Festival of the Arts is recruiting volunteers for LakeFest 2023 which will occur June 16-18th. LakeFest is a free, three-day outdoor celebration on the lakefront in Downtown Columbia. The event includes live performance arts, children’s creative activities, a juried fine arts and crafts show, a variety of hands-on workshops for all ages and, of course, the always popular outdoor festival food fare. Around 300 volunteers are needed to assist artists and guests.

SU is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit fostering patient-to-patient connections and empowering people with the rare autoimmune disease scleroderma. Current initiatives include SU’s “Scleroderma Stories” publication and the creation of a new Patient-Led Education Program. Spring Softball

We're excited to have you as a SBGC family member and we would like to keep the momentum of our family growth going! We hope to see your daughters, nieces, and/or granddaughters playing Softball with us. Our goal is to register 80+ girls for the upcoming season. To help us meet this goal, we are depending on you to tell your neighbors, friends and family to bring their tweens and teens out to play with us.

HopeWorks' Youth Leadership Project

Open to teens, age 13 to 18, the HopeWorks’ Youth Leadership Project is a service-learning program dedicated to empowering teens to challenge systems of oppression and prevent relationship violence in their community. This project creates a space for students to grow in understanding themselves and the world. Facilitating self-care and social justice projects, youth leaders engage in frank discussions, raise their social consciousness and participate in creative projects and activism.

This project provides an affirming and safe space for all students. 

ADHD, ASD & Reading Disabilities Research Studies- Kennedy Krieger Institute

We are recruiting participants between 8 to 17 years old to participate in a research study to learn if there are differences between the brain's structure and its function in children and adolescents with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Reading Disabilities.

This is a great opportunity for children and adolescents to learn about research and play an active role in scientific exploration!
