Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run

Join us in-person or virtually for the Howard County Autism Society’s Every Step Counts Autism Walk & 5K Run! The event brings together those touched by Autism and members of the community in a supportive, energizing and fun environment. Along with the race itself, enjoy the 5K’s village featuring sponsors, family-friendly activities and entertainment, grab-and-go snacks, and more.

Free VBS Kids Camp at Good Hope Presbyterian Church, July 11-15

All children entering kindergarten (5 years old) through 5th grade in the 2022-23 school year are invited to join us for a FREE week of VBS Kids Camp at Good Hope Presbyterian Church from July 11-15 from 9am -12noon each day! We'll enjoy crafts, games, music, snacks, skits, and Bible stories together throughout the week as we dive into the book of Exodus for our "Exodus in Christ" adventure!

International Student Exchange Volunteer Host Families Needed

ADHD, ASD, TS & Reading Disabilities Research Studies-Kennedy Krieger Institute

We are recruiting participants between 8 to 17 years old to participate in a research study to learn if there are differences between the brain’s structure and its function in children and adolescents with and without Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Tourette Syndrome (TS) and Reading Disabilities.  

This is a great opportunity for children and adolescents to learn about research and play an active role in scientific exploration!

No Cost, Home Weatherization Upgrade Grant

This grant will utilize funds to make improvements to your home to help reduce monthly utility bills, improve home comfort and home indoor air-quality, as well as eliminate some health and safety issues. An Energy Assessment is performed on the home to determine what upgrades can be done by the grant to lower the energy bills. Upgrades may include attic insulation, air-sealing, duct-sealing, replacement or repair to cooling and heating equipment or water heaters, or replacement of older, non-energy star appliances. The grant pays the cost of the energy assessment and the upgrades. 

Housing, Energy and Weatherization Assistance

The Community Action Council of Howard County (CAC) offers financial support to families that are struggling with electric and fuel costs through our energy assistance program. CAC’s weatherization assistance program permanently reduces energy bills by making the home more energy efficient. CAC’s housing assistance program provides one-time financial support to prevent eviction or assist with rent.

The Millionaire's Club is a complete financial skills program designed for delivery in a club-like setting at high schools and middle schools.
